Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 1st issue, large letter reverse (Sergt. I. Plumb. Band Master 2nd. Battn. 60 Royal Rifles) engraved naming, with original steel clip and rectangular bar suspension, minor edge bruise, good very fine £240-280

Isaac Plumb was born in 1807 in Ipswich, Suffolk, and attested for the 60th Regiment at London on 6 December 1825. Posted to the 1st Battalion, he served overseas in Portugal, the Mediterranean and in North America. Promoted Corporal on 7 January 1834, and Sergeant on 8 February 1834, he was appointed Bugle-Major on 9 June 1834. He transferred to the 2nd Battalion on 3 September 1845, and was discharged at Halifax, Nova Scotia on 30 April 1847, after 21 years and 149 days’ service; however a note on his papers states: ‘Bugle Major Plumb wishes to continue with the 2nd Battn. 60th Regiment of Rifles in a private capacity and proceed with it, wherever it may be quartered’.
