India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Chin-Lushai 1889-90 (1603 Drumr. W. Lovatt 1st. Bn. Ches. R.) edge bruising, good very fine £200-260

William Lovatt was born in 1866 in Leek, Staffordshire, and attested for the Cheshire Regiment at Leek on 20 March 1885. Appointed Drummer on 1 January 1888, he served with the Regiment during the Chin-Lushai Expeditions of 1889 to 1890 as part of the Northern Burma Column, before transferring to the Army Reserve on 1 May 1894. He was discharged on 19 March 1897, after 12 years’ service.
