Army Long Service & Good Conduct, E.VII.R. (1070 Dmr. G. Chesters, Rl. Welsh Fus.), very fine £60-80

George Chesters enlisted in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in July 1885, aged 18 years. He subsequently served the Colours for 22 years and, apart from a tour of duty during the occupation of Crete in 1897-98, does not appear to have witnessed active service. He was awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal in AO 77 of 1908 and was discharged as a Drummer from the 3rd Battalion in the same year. In December 1911, he re-enlisted in his old regiment as a Territorial and he served as a Private in the 4th Battalion in France and Flanders in the period 5 November 1914 to 21 May 1915. He was discharged for a final time in February 1917; sold with copied research.
