Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1791 Sergt. M. Morrissey, Ryl. Denbigh), one or two edge bruises, very fine £80-100

Mark Morrissey was born in Co. Kilkenny and enlisted in the 98th Regiment in February 1850. Having then transferred to the 35th Regiment, he witnessed active service in the Indian Mutiny (Medal). In February 1863, Morrissey again transferred, this time to the 24th Regiment, in which he gained advancement to Sergeant in February 1868. He subsequently completed his time for a pension as a supernumerary in the Royal Denbighshire Militia, and was discharged in March 1870; sold with copied service papers.
