British War Medal 1914-20 (2) (10166 Sjt. G. Bickerdyke, Welsh R.; 10124 Pte. G. Grant, Welsh R.), good very fine (2) £60-80

George Bickerdyke, who was born in Hyde, Cheshire, was killed in action in Belgium on 20 February 1915, whilst serving as a Sergeant in the 1st Battalion. A pre-war regular, he had served in India for nearly four years, prior to being embarked France in mid-January 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial; sold with copied research and portrait photograph.

Gerald Grant was taken P.O.W. while serving in the 1st Battalion, Welsh Regiment and died in captivity on 1 August 1918. The son of G. Grant of Cookley, Kidderminster, he was buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery.
