Edmond Hennessey was born in the Parish of Galbally, County Tipperary, and enlisted into the 8th Foot on 8 August 1870. He volunteered to 25th Infantry Brigade (24th Foot) on 22 February 1879 and served in Natal from 1 March to 2 October 1879. He re-transferred to the 8th Foot on 1 February 1880 and was discharged on 20 October 1880, his conduct ‘Indifferent - has been addicted to drink and frequently absent, but was a clean soldier and respectful to his officers.’ Sold with copied discharge papers.
