Amanda Carmen Cavendish, née Heywood-Lonsdale (b. 1944), styled Marchioness of Hartington from 1967 to 2004 and now the Duchess of Devonshire. Her husband, the present 12th Duke of Devonshire, is well known in the world of horse racing, being elected to the Jockey Club in 1980 and appointed its Senior Steward in 1989. He was the first chairman of the British Horseracing Board, the sport’s governing body, and served in that capacity from 1993-6
