Henry I (1100-1135), Round Halfpenny, Salisbury, Sawine, facing uncrowned bust with hair composed of eight stylised ringlets, henric rex, rev. sapine on s·, cross potent with group of four pellets in each angle, 0.50g/3h (PAS WILT-B208C1; Spencer, The Searcher, August 2016, p.48, this coin; Allen, BNJ 2012 and BNJ 2016, –; N 872; S 1277). On a slightly irregular flan, otherwise good very fine, the only known specimen for this mint and moneyer, UNIQUE £6,000-8,000

Peter Spencer has traced 18 specimens of these round halfpence, most from different mint/moneyer combinations. He hypothesises that this coin may have been struck on a strip, thus causing the unusual elongated shape with two parallel straight edges. It should be stressed that this opinion is highly speculative
