Great Britain, Municipal Science & Technical School, West Bromwich, Whiteley Medal, 1938, a bronze award medal by Elkington, seated figures of Justice and Mercury, view of Hardraw Force waterfall in central cartouche, rev. legend, edge named (Eric J. Wilson, 1938-39), 64mm. Extremely fine, rare; in original black fitted case (£40-60)

The medal was founded by Richard Lloyd Whiteley, FIC, principal of the school for many years, and was awarded annually to the best student of the session. Hardraw Force, at over 100 feet England’s highest waterfall, is located near Hawes, in Wensleydale, N Yorkshire
