France, Contemplation, c.1905, a uniface bronze artist’s trial for the plaque by A. Maillard, seated female with open book and standing boy contemplate a coastal view from a balcony, back stamped 40 06, 70 x 56mm (PBE 574; BM Acq. 1978-82, pl.43, 106; cf. DNW 46, 795). Trace of old paper label on back and small stain on female’s left knee, otherwise very fine (£40-50)
