Wyon], bust of Edward VII left, rev. tablet, City of London arms above, classical head below, edge named (John Robert Pinches, Drawing the Figure from Life, 1906), 52mm (MJP pp.27-8); Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, 1910, a silver award medal by B. Mackennal and L.C. Wyon, bust of George V left, rev. legend in wreath, edge named (John Pinches, for his music prize medal, “Orpheus”, Exhibition of Medallic Art, 1917), 55mm (BHM 4004; E 1916; MJP p.174); together with Royal Academy of Music, Lucas Medal, 1869, a bronze medal by J. Pinches after T. Woolner, seated male nude with lyre, standing youth at right, rev. legend in 8 lines, 56mm (BHM 2903; MJP p.130); The John Pinches International Dressage Championship, Goodwood, 1974, a bronze medal, unsigned, equestrian figure left, rev. frontal elevation of Goodwood House, 38mm [4]. Third somewhat spotted, otherwise extremely fine and better, first brilliant and toned, in official blue fitted case (£100-150)

John Robert Pinches (1884-1968), artist and medallist, grandson of the founder of the company bearing his name, studied at the Slade School of Art under Professor Tonks and learnt his engraving skills from George de Saulles
