Norris for Toye, Kenning & Spencer Ltd, bare-headed bust of Churchill right, rev. frontal elevation of Chequers House, silver stamped 393 on edge, both 45mm; together with silver medals (3), by R. Norris for Toye, Kenning & Spencer Ltd, revs. Blenheim Palace, Chartwell Manor and 10 Downing Street, all stamped 393 on edge, each 45mm [6]. Mint state; the silver medals in blue fitted case of issue, with certificate (£40-50)

Chequers House, the splendid red-brick Tudor country house rebuilt in 1565 by William Hawtrey, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, was donated to the nation by Lord Lee in 1917. Since 1921 it, and the adjoining 1,000-acre estate, has been the official country residence of the British prime minister, and the house was much used by Winston Churchill during World War II – Churchill made his “we’ll fight them on the beaches” radio address from there
