Elizabeth II (1952-, Trial 50 Pence, 1994, in cupro-nickel, by R. Maklouf, on normal hexagonal flan, coronetted bust right as the regular issue, but royal mint trial stamped in front, rev. Britannia, royal mint trial stamped at right, edge plain, 27.3mm, 8.30g. Struck from polished dies, minor scuffing, otherwise better than extremely fine, excessively rare; only one other believed known in private hands (£300-500)

Provenance:
Eric Charles Walford, MBE (1938-1998), of Merton, Surrey, and by descent.

The only other known specimen was found in circulation in the Peterborough area in 1998 and has been sold at auction twice in the intervening years (DNW 44, lot 456, £980, and in the ‘Patina’ Collection, Spink Auction, 11 July 2001, lot 1062)
