St. Martin’s Volunteers Pouch Belt Plate, a good quality example, the rectangular burnished gilt back plate with cut corners, this with copper gilt mount showing St. Martin giving half his cloak to a beggar, a scroll below ‘St Martins’, the reverse with four screw post fasteners. This pattern of plate was initially adopted c. 1794 and worn until c. 1814 by the original London Volunteer Unit, the plate was used again by the very short lived 25th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers and worn as a pouch belt plate, the unit was raised and disbanded in 1860, the gilt rubbed overall otherwise good condition £80-120
