A group of Commission documents relating to Colonel G. F. Moore, 10th and 83rd Foot, later Staff Officer of Pensioners at Glasgow (5), appointment as Captain in the 83rd Regiment, dated 1 May 1852; letter of promotion by Brevet to the rank of Major, dated 26 October 1858; appointment as Major in the Army, dated 8 June 1862; appointment as Lieutenant-Colonel in the Army, dated 9 January 1870; and appointment as Colonel, Land Forces, dated 18 October 1877, this last in its War Office transmission envelope addressed to Colonel Moore in West Kensington, generally good condition (5) £80-120

Colonel George Frederick Moore served with the 10th Regiment in the early part of the siege operations before Mooltan in 1848 (Medal with clasp), including the affair of the 9th September, and the storming of the enemy’s strongly-entrenched position, was severely wounded in the thigh on 4th November.
