Sudan Police and Prison Service Medal for Gallantry 1948, unnamed, mounted as worn, extremely fine £180-220

Sir Robert Howe, K.C.M.G., instituted medals for gallantry and for Meritorious Service to be awarded to members of the Sudan Police Force and Sudan Prison Service, ref. Sudan Government Gazette 15 December 1948. The Medal for Gallantry was only awarded on eight occasions and the Medal for Meritorious Service awarded to 86 recipients. Both medals became obsolete with the independence of Sudan in 1956.
