Japan, Order of the Sacred Treasure, 8th Class breast badge, silver, with lapel bow, in damaged lacquer case of issue; Sino-Japanese War Medal 1894-95, bronze, in lacquer case of issue, both unnamed, extremely fine (2) £100-140

Sold with original award document for the Sino-Japanese War Medal; Japanese passport document, permitting ‘Mr Tamaki Wada’, aged 27 years, 4 months, to travel to Chicago, U.S.A., July 1900; one other Japanese document; eleven photographs, including two of Wada wearing his two medals. Also with newspaper cuttings which stated that Taiko Wada who had been incorrectly accused of being a ‘China-man’ wanted in Chicago for murder, had been exonerated and released.
