General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (2979159 Gdsmn. A. McKenzie, S. Gds.) nearly extremely fine £160-200

Alexander McKenzie was a native of Argyll, Scotland, born c.1917. He enlisted into the Army at Glasgow and served in the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards. The ‘Palestine’ roll compiled and dated 30 January 1940 lists him as a Piper at the time of qualifying for the medal, with the extra remarks ‘Transferred to C.M.P.’ McKenzie died on 13 August 1940, aged 23 years, while serving with the Corps of Military Police. He was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery. With copied service notes and CWGC extract.
