Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Somaliland 1908-10 (350548 S. F. Baker, S.B.S., H.M.S. Fox) some edge bruising and contact marks, very fine £120-160

Sydney Frank Baker was born in Ottery St. Mary, Devon on 5 July 1875. A Railway Porter by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Probationary Sick Berth Attendant on 22 October 1897. He was confirmed in that rank in January 1898 and promoted to 2nd Sick Berth Steward in April 1903 when based at Yokohama Hospital and Sick Berth Steward in December 1907 when at Vivid I. Served on H.M.S. Fox, May 1908-July 1910. He served on the battleship H.M.S. Conqueror, November 1912-February 1917, being appointed Chief Sick Berth Steward in September 1916. Pensioned in October 1919. In addition to the above, entitled to the N.G.S. with clasp Persian Gulf and the 1914-15 Star trio of medals. With copied service papers.
