India General Service 1895-1902, 1 clasp, Relief of Chitral 1895 (3278 Pte. A. Dearle, 11th Hussars) good very fine, scarce to unit £200-260

Alfred Dearle was born in Twickenham, London. A Draper by occupation and a member of the 2nd Volunteer Battalion Devon Regiment, he attested for the 11th Hussars at Devonport on 27 June 1891. With the regiment he served in South Africa, May-October 1892 and India, October 1892-October 1895. Dearle took part in the Chitral Relief Expedition in 1895, attached to the Army Veterinary Department as a Clerk and Line Orderly. He was discharged by purchase (£18) on 19 October 1895; his intended place of residence given as ‘Kenmore’, Bath Road, Reading, Berkshire. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
