Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Lt. Col. M. Andrews. 28th Foot) contemporary engraved naming, heavy edge bruising and polished, otherwise dark toned, nearly very fine £150-200

Mottram Andrews was appointed Ensign in the 28th Foot on 9 April 1825, and served in the Ionian Islands, Greece, in that year; Lieutenant, 24 July 1828; Captain, 24 August 1842; Major, 20 June 1854; Lieutenant-Colonel, 9 October 1855. He served with the 28th Foot at the siege of Sebastopol in 1854 (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal). An accomplished artist, the regimental museum hold one of his paintings depicting the war in the Crimea.
