Waterloo 1815 (Joseph Adlam, 1st or Royal Dragoons.) fitted with replacement steel clip and ring suspension, heavy edge bruising and contact wear, fine £1200-1400

Joseph Adlam was born at Wookey, near Wells, Somerset, and enlisted for the 1st Dragoons at Wells on 7 February 1805, aged eighteen years. He served in the Peninsula and at the battle of Waterloo, and ‘was wounded by a shell in the left leg and musquet shot in the body and I recommend him for His Majesty’s Royal Bounty of Chelsea Hospital.’ He was discharged ‘worn out’ on 18 April 1827, and admitted as a pensioner to Chelsea Hospital on 30 May 1827. Joseph Adlam died on 13 October 1837. Sold with copied discharge papers.
