Acting Commissioned Boatswain Walter James Tissington was confirmed in that rank in February 1950 (London Gazette 6 July 1951). Served on Sulva, February 1951; Warden, January 1952; and was appointed Boatswain of the Yard at Portland, February 1956. He was commissioned a Lieutenant on 1 April 1957 (London Gazette 16 April 1957). Served on ML 2840, 1959; Reward, February 1960; Barnstone, November 1963; at Singapore in 1967; then at Stafford - as Naval Boom Defence Officer, Rosyth, December 1968, and Lamoor (In command), August 1969. Placed on the Retired List, 7 February 1971 (London Gazette 5 February 1971). He died on 14 January 1987.
