Frank William Douglas Sinden was born in Woolston, Itchen on 9 February 1915. Having entered the ranks of the Royal Engineers before the war, he was commissioned a War Substantive Lieutenant in June 1942 and was advanced to Temporary Captain in July 1943 and War Substantive Captain in September 1945. He was twice mentioned in despatches for Burma, once as a Temporary Captain (
London Gazette 9 May 1946) and again as a Temporary Major (London Gazette 19 September 1946).

With two related Boxing Prize Medals, 32mm. dia., silver, reverse inscribed, ‘1929 Gnat Weight Winner F. Sinden’, in case of issue; another, bronze, reverse inscribed, ‘1929 Novices Gnat Weight Runner Up F. Sinden’.

With copied birth certificate and Army List extracts.
