Cyril Alban Mattinson was born in Crumsall, Manchester, Lancashire. He attested for the Bedfordshire Regiment at Manchester on 18 January 1897, aged 15 years. Posted to the 2nd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment as a Boy, he was appointed a Drummer in April 1898 and Private in February 1900. Promoted to Lance-Corporal in October 1905 and Corporal in July 1907. Served in the East Indies, December 1897-December 1908. Discharged on 23 September 1911. Moving to Canada, he then served in the Royal Canadian Regiment, November 1911-February 1920, followed by service in the P.P.C.L.I., February 1920-April 1928. He attested for overseas service on 23 August 1915. Served with the R.C.R. in France. He died in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on 22 June 1939.

With a large quantity of copied British and (mostly) Canadian service papers. With C.E.F. lapel badge.
