George Albert Cooper was born in Colchester, Essex on 22 December 1896. Served at Antwerp with the Benbow Battalion 1914. He was one of a small number of Benbow Battalion members who returned from the defence of Antwerp. Over 90% of the battalion were interned in Holland or taken prisoner by the Germans. His 1914 Star ribbon was sent to the O.C. H.M.S. Gazelle, 25 April 1918. 1914 Star sent to him on H.M.S. Europa, 10 March 1919. With copied service papers
