Lawrence Hope enlisted on 8 April 1902. With the 1st Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment he served in operations on the N.W. Frontier during 1908. In the Great War, with the 1st Battalion he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 20 September 1914.
