Casptain (Master Mariner) Charles Henry Francis Napier Lane, 1868-1935. Qualified as First Mate (Chief Officer) April 1892 and as Master in February 1900. Served as Chief Officer aboard S.S. Putalia during the Third China War. In 1918 he was aboard the S.S. Madala sailing from London to Bombay. He retired after the Great War and died in Bournemouth in August 1935.
