Charles Robert Oliver was born in Church Oakley, Basingstoke, Hampshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Army Service Corps at Aldershot on 13 August 1895, aged 21 years, 11 months. With them he served in South Africa, October 1899-April 1905 and Gibraltar, September 1910-February 1911. Discharged medically unfit on 7 March 1911. With copied service papers.
