Pair: Private Walter Robinson, Coldstream Guards, who was presented with his Crimea medal by Queen Victoria on Horse Guards Parade in May 1855

Crimea 1854-56, 4 clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Pte. Walr. Robinson, 1 Btn. Col. Gds.) contemporary engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue (W. Robinson. 1st Batn. Coldm. Gds.) contemporary engraved naming, fitted with replacement swivel suspension, old solder repair to claw on reverse of the first, contact marks, otherwise about very fine (2) £400-460

Walter Robinson was born in the Parish of Eye, Suffolk, and attested for the Coldstream Guards at Norwich on 11 October 1834, a glover by trade, aged 17 years 11 months. He served overseas at Quebec, Canada, for four years and six months; and with the army in the East for one year two months, being present at the battles of Alma, Balaklava, Inkermann, and the siege of Sebastopol. His Crimea medal was presented to him by Queen Victoria on Horse Guards Parade on 18 May 1855. Robinson was invalided out of the service on 23 October 1855, suffering from chronic asthma and palpitations of the heart. Sold with copied discharge papers and other research.
