Sjt., R.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 1st issue (1029461 W.O. Cl. 1, R.A.); with cap badge, contact marks, nearly very fine and better (6) £800-900

D.C.M. London Gazette 1 May 1918; citation 10 January 1920.

‘On 18th September, 1918, north of Villers Faucon, as No. 1 of a gun, he, under violent enemy bombardment, set a fine example of coolness and courage to his men. Later, when one of the section was hit, he dressed his wounds and carried him to the dressing station under heavy fire.’
