Eight: Private J. K. Walsh, Gloucestershire Regiment

1939-45 Star; Burma Star; Italy Star; France and Germany Star; Defence and War Medals; Korea (22510688 Pte., Glosters); U.N. Korea, mounted as worn, slight contact marks, very fine (8) £160-200

Sold with two Regular Army Certificates of Service, one for service with the Royal Army Service Corps, 1937-49 and the other for service with the Gloucestershire Regiment, 1950-51; these confirm all the recipient’s medals. Also with a forwarding slip for the Korea Medals; two references; newspaper cuttings re. the award of the Unit Citation to the Gloucestershire Regiment and a cloth badge.

John Kessel Walsh was born in 1919 and enlisted in 1937 at Devonport with the Royal Army Service Corps. He served with them in France and Belgium 1939-40, in India 1942, Persia and Iraq 1942-43 and in Italy and N.W. Europe until the end of the war. He was discharged on 25.5.1950, his services no longer required but re-enlisted the same day in Leeds with the Gloucestershire Regiment. He served in Korea 1.10.1950 - 4.9.1951 but was not present at Imjin. He was discharged on 10.12.1951 on medical grounds.
