Alan Godfrey Payne served as a Lieutenant with the I.L.H. and 1st South African Irish. He was posted missing at Sidi Rez on 15.12.1941 and later confirmed as a Prisoner of War, confined in Oflag 9AZ and then in Oflag 5A. He was released in March 1945.

Louis Pontes served as a Gunner with the South African Artillery. He was reported missing at Tobruk on 3.12.1941 and later confirmed as a Prisoner of War. He was released from captivity in Italy in November 1944.
