Four: Able Seaman S. H. Gabb, Royal Navy

1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45, extremely fine, together with original Memorial Scroll in the name of ‘L.(sic) H. Gabb’, and wartime portrait photograph (4) £40-60

Sidney Herbert Gabb, who was from Cardiff, was killed in action on 12 November 1942, when the destroyer depot ship H.M.S. Hecla was torpedoed and sunk by the U-515 west of Gibraltar Straits; Commonwealth War Graves records reveal only one R.N. rating by the name of Gabb, R.N. (Accompanying letter refers).
