Pair: Air Mechanic 2 W. Ure, Royal Air Force

British War and Victory Medals (95220 2 A.M., R.A.F.) extremely fine (2) £15-20

William Ure, originally a glazier from Falkirk, enlisted in the Royal Air Force as an Air Mechanic in September 1917 and served out in France from January 1918 until January 1919, very probably with No. 100 Squadron. He was also a lucky survivor of the influenza epidemic, having been admitted to No. 8 Canadian Stationary Hospital in the Summer of 1918 but discharged a few days later. Ure settled in Australia with his son.
