Private James Bathgate, was born in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire and enlisted at Perth. Serving with the 18th battalion Middlesex Regiment, he died of wounds, France / Flanders, 5.11.1916. He was buried at the Carnoy Military Cemetery.

Flight Sergeant Robert Bathgate, served as a mid-upper gunner in Lancasters of 170 Squadron. After the war he served in the Metropolitan Police. Sold with the recipient’s R.A.F. Service and Release Book, a photograph of the recipient with members of the bomber crew, a photograph of the recipient in Police uniform and a paper-cutting with photographs relating to a re-union of the bomber crew.
