Great Britain, Colony of New South Wales, Medal for Bravery in Resisting or Capturing Bushrangers, V.R., bronze-gilt electrotype, truncation embossed ‘Hardy Bros., London’, reverse embossed, ‘Granted for Gallant and Faithful Services’ and inscribed, ‘J. P. (sic) Grenfell, Esq., Crown Lands Commr., 7 Dec. 1866’, with gilt riband buckle on fragmentary ribbon, good very fine, rare £500-600

These medals were awarded by the Colony of New South Wales in gold or silver to Police and citizens for bravery in capturing or resisting Bushrangers. Issued between 1863 and 1875, only 7 gold and 8 silver medals were awarded.
