Four: Staff Sergeant A. J. Short, 1st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade, taken prisoner in 1940

1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; War Medal; Regular Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue (6768896 Col. Sjt., R.B.) nearly very fine (4) £80-100

Staff Sergeant A. J. Short was captured in France in 1940, presumably at the epic defence of Calais. He was held at Camp 8A, Stalag Gorlitz, P.O.W. number 11250. He was probably released before the end of the war by Allied troops, in time to serve in North West Europe.
