D.C.M. London Gazette 5 August 1915: ‘For gallant conduct on the 9th May, 1915, near Rouges Bancs when he carried back a message from the captured enemy trench to our own trenches under a heavy fire. Although three times wounded on the way he succeeded in delivering the message.’
