Brig.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaf (Q.M. & Capt.); India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Waziristan 1921-24 (Q.M. & Capt., R. Clasp for South Africa 1901 is not confirmed on the roll which gives his rank as a Sergeant in the 4th Battalion. He served in France and Belgium from 19 May 1915 to 17 June 1918, and transferred to the Royal Berkshire Regiment on 19 November 1922.
