Private Frederick James Sawyers was born in Tetbury, Gloucestershire and enlisted at Newport, Monmouthshire. Entering France in December 1915, he served with the 11th battalion South Wales Borderers and was killed in action, France / Flanders, on 12.9.1916. He was buried in Essex Farm Cemetery, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
