Three: Lieutenant G. Hare, “D” Company, 7th (Dublin Pals) Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers

1914-15 Star (14167 Sjt., R. Dub. Fus.); British War and Victory Medals (Lieut.) contained in a contemporary fitted red leatherette case, extremely fine (3) £500-600

George Hare was educated at Mountjoy School, Dublin, and worked as a Civil Servant prior to the war. He was made a Sergeant in September 1914 in “D” Company, 7th (Rugby Football Union) Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, serving with them at Gallipoli, where he participated in the Suvla Bay Landings on 9 August 1915. He received a commission in the same Company of this regiment September 1915, and was killed in action in Palestine on 27 December 1917 . He is buried in Jerusalem War Cemetery, Israel.
