Chief Petty Officer George Amos Rumsby entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in 1912. Attaining the rank of Able Seaman in 1915, he served aboard the cruiser H.M.S. Blake from 1916 until the end of the war, attaining the rank of Petty Officer in 1921.
