Rifleman John Algernon Solly, enlisted in London and entered France in November 1914. Serving with the 9th London Regiment (Queen Victoria’s Rifles) he was wounded on 24.4.1915 and died of his wounds on 29.4.1915. Aged 30, he was the son of George and Francis Solly of Sandwich, Kent. He was buried in the Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery, Nord, France.
