Lance-Corporal George Alfred Ellis was born in Stoke-by-Nayland, Suffolk and enlisted at Maidstone, Kent. Serving with the 1st battalion Royal West Kent Regiment he was killed in action, France/Flanders, 13.9.1914. Having no known grave, his name is listed on the La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, Seine-et-Marne, France.
