4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards, a fine Victorian officer’s undress sabretache c1860-1901, the black patent leather face bearing a large gilt Star of the Order of St Patrick, complete with rear pouch straps and studs, the three top ‘D’ rings with full dress shamrock pattern gold lace on blue velvet and black leather waist belt slings, the face with some crazing and re-finishing otherwise excellent condition £300-400

Though ‘undress’ in appearance these were used in full dress by the heavy cavalry after 1852.
