Sold with a U.S. War Department letter to Mr Charles E. Ernst, dated 17.1.1946, informing him that by the direction of the President, the Silver Star had been awarded to him by the Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division, for gallantry shown on 21.2.1945 near Valpiano, Italy.
