Aldershot Command Small Arms Meeting Medallion, 31mm., silver, reverse inscribed, ‘Rapid Fire Team 1930, Captain H. W. Hutton’, good very fine £20-30

Major H. W. Hutton served in the Great War, initially a Sergeant in the 5th Dragoon Guards, was wounded and commissioned from the ranks as 2nd Lieutenant on 25.6.1918. Promoted Captain in the 2nd battalion East Yorkshire Regiment on 24.12.1930 he retired circa 1937. Recalled to service in the Second World War, he attained the rank of Major and died on 10.2.1946, aged 53 years. Entitled to the 1914 Star with clasp, British War and Victory Medals, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission entry states entitlement to a ‘Medaille Militaire de Merite’.
