Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. (920114 Pte. W. J. Nightingale), together with a watch fob, 27mm., silver base metal, obverse: inscribed, ‘Victorious Tommies’, with soldiers and cannon; reverse: inscribed, ‘Vimy Ridge’, with Royal coat-of-arms on black ribbon; President Kruger Funeral Medal 1904, bronze, good very fine (3) £50-60

Wilfred John Le Rossignol was the son of Mrs Philip Le Rossignol of St. Aubins, Jersey, Channel Islands. Under the name of Wilfred John Nightingale, he served with the 14th battalion Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment) and was killed in action on 2.9.1918. His name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
