Haig, C.B., Indian Medical Service, Order of the Bath, Military Division, gold and enamel, with buckle on ribbon; Kaisar-i-Hind, G.V.R., 1st Class, silver-gilt, complete with top bar; India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Waziristan 1894-5; India General Service 1895-1902, 1 clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-8; East and Central Africa, 1 clasp, Uganda 1899; Africa General Service, 1 clasp, Uganda 1900; 1914-15 Star; British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. Oak leaf; Delhi Durbar 1911, silver, mounted Court-style as worn, good very fine and better (10) £240-280

Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Balfour Haig, C.B., M.B., C.M. Edin., M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., was born in 1866 and educated at Loretto School and Edinburgh and Paris Universities. He entered the I.M.S. in 1892 and served in the Waziristan Expedition of 1894-5 and the 1897-98 Expedition to the N.W. Frontier where took part in the operations around Malakand, Utman Khel, Buner and the attack and capture of the Tanga Pass. In 1899 he served in the operations against the Kabarega and in the following year in the Nandi Expedition, for both of which he was mentioned in despatches. He was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind in 1913. In the Great War he was again mentioned in despatches and awarded the C.B. in 1917. The recipient’s full-size medals were sold in the Spink Numismatic Circular in February 1976.
